VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIMENT PROJECT ENGINEER - GRAPHICS PROGRAMMER

MIT scientists are developing an experiment to study human visual 
orientation in astronauts flying on the 1998 Space Shuttle 
"Neurolab" mission.  The experiment  will be the first to use NASA's
Virtual Environment Generator, a space qualified virtual reality 
helmet mounted display system.  MIT is seeking an lead engineer - 
graphics programmer for the project, to provide software and 
hardware engineering, administrative, and operational support, and 
to serve as the coordinator for the entire bi-national experiment 
team.  The Project Engineer will participate actively in the 
development and documentation of experimental procedures, working 
with the investigators and students.  The Project Engineer will have
primary technical responsibility for developing, testing, and 
documenting the virtual environment software used in preflight , 
postflight, and flight experiments, and participate in astronaut 
training, simulations, parabolic 0-G flight tests and ground mission
operations, supporting these activities as neccessary via travel.  
Applicants must have expertise in real time PC or workstation PC 3-D
graphics hardware and software, preferably including relevant 
experience with Windows-NT, C++, World Tool Kit, and Open GL.  This 
is a full time position in the MIT Center for Space Research, in 
Cambridge, MA, starting as soon as possible.  Additional information
