This is important information for all who use the mailing list
side of sci.virtual-worlds, the VIRTU-L mailing list.

VIRTU-L is run using LISTSERV software on an IBM mainframe
at the University of Illinois.  Like many academic institutions,
though, UIUC is retiring the mainframe -- on January 11, 1996.


Sometime between now and then, VIRTU-L will be moved from
"vmd.cso.uiuc.edu" (the IBM mainframe) to
"postoffice.cso.uiuc.edu" (a UNIX host, also called
"listserv.uiuc.edu").


IF YOU SUBSCRIBE to the mailing list, you don't need to do
anything except send your messages to "virtu-l@postoffice.cso.uiuc.edu"
instead of the old address, "virtu-l@vmd.cso.uiuc.edu"

Requests to subscribe or unsubscribe should go to
"listserv@postoffice.cso.uiuc.edu" (instead of "listserv@vmd.cso.uiuc.edu").
Administrative requests should continue to come to me, via
"gbnewby@uiuc.edu"


The entire list will be moved to the new address, and the
sci.virtual-worlds moderators will immediately begin posting
moderated messages to the new address, so the transition should
be fairly smooth.  I'll send another message once the transition
is complete.
