Hello. I recently wired my Powerglove to my PC (486sx/40, 4MB RAM,
Mono VGA monitor, 500MB hard drive, etc), but I can't seem to get it
to work. I followed the instructions for the parallel port interface
posted all over the net and in Linda Jacobson's "Garage VR" book, but
no go. I'm using an internal connector for the +5v power, btw. I've
read somehwhere that the parallel port must be bi-directional. How
could I tell if it's bi-directional or not? There is no way to set it
in my computer's CMOS like the article I read about troubleshooting
said there would be. What happens... When I turn the PC on with the
glove wired to the parallel port and power connector, the glove beeps
and the red light on it flashes once. Some of the lights on the
sensor array assembly light up as well, and stay on (the left, right,
down, and B lights, in a pattern that looks like a "7"). I didn't get
any docs with the glove itself since i bought it from a friend who had
long since lost them. Perhaps I have to set the glove to a specific
"program"? Or is my problem the classic "uni-directional parallel
port" problem? Or is it something entirely different? Any help would
be greatly appreciated. Thnx.
