Announcing data repository for gesture researchers.

Rationale
---------

This archive has been set up in response to the first
Gesture Workshop held at the University of York
 on the 19.iii.96.

It has been common practice in many disciplines to make
experimental data available to other researchers for the
purposes of testing algorithms, new hypothesis or just to
demonstrate how their data is tougher to recognise than
anyone else's and hence promote their algorithms!

It has become increasingly apparent that the gesture
research population were not sharing data or were not
aware of anyone who might want their data. Therefore,
this archive has been established as a repository for data
for those researchers.

The archive is located at http://peipa.essex.ac.uk/gesture

What type of data ?
-------------------

In short, any type! Just so long as it is applicable to
gesture research. For example, sources of gesture could come
from image sequences, instrumented pens or instrumented gloves.
All that is asked is that the data comes with a description and
perhaps annotation of what, which and when the gestures occur in
the data. A description of the method of capture and any explicit
 or implicit constraints that occurred.

For instructions on how to up-load data, please read the data page
