DETAILS:

Alan Kay, of Apple Computer Inc., will be speaking in a live and
interactive broadcast over the Internet, on 12th June 1996 at 5pm
British Summer Time (= 12 noon USA Eastern Daylight Time). Don't miss
this unique opportunity to hear and speak with one of the key figures
in the modern era of personal computing.

Dr. Kay created the Smalltalk language while leading the Learning
Research Group at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center in the 1970s,
and his pioneering 'Dynabook' concept is widely acknowledged to be the
origin of personal computing as we know it today. As a distinguished
Apple Fellow he has continued to pursue the role of new media in the
context of learning - for children of all ages.

This is the latest in a series of events hosted by the Knowledge Media
Institute (KMi) of The Open University, UK. Previous speakers were:

Henry Lieberman (MIT Media Lab)
Borre Ludvigsen (HIO Norway)
Richard Cogger (Cornell University)
Peter Cochrane (British Telecom)
Luc Steels (Free U. Brussels & Sony Japan)
Ben Shneiderman (U. of Maryland)
Ron Baecker (U. of Toronto)
Don Norman (Apple Computer, Inc.)

Anyone is welcome to participate in the event, anywhere in the world.
The minimum hardware requirements are an Internet connection, sound
and a modern Web browser. It even works via a 14.4Kbps modem. The
Stadium utilizes RealAudio, for which further details can be obtained
from the Stadium WWW Page. So drop by, listen, look and ask Alan a
question!
