It's probably time to pour some water on the perceived embers. Josh,
I didn't attack Silicon Graphics. I work with Silicon Graphics. I
admire its technology. I questioned the value of a press release that
begins and ends on a negative tone, without acknowledging the
accomplishments in the field (many of which have been accomplished by
SGI, as a matter of fact). That's all. You guys and gals are great.
You make great visualization technology and you've spent a lot of
effort selling it.

We disagree on the nature of the "threat" to our field. You worry that
the glass is half empty. I worry that it's half full. So let's fill it
up and drink it down.

By the way, I understand that Ed McCracken, the CEO of SGI, is keynoting
the first Indian conference on virtual worlds, in Delhi, this April. I
bet the Indians will be amused by our field's past foibles, but what Ed
will probably tell them is what can be accomplished today and in the
future. It's what people need to hear.

Shake hands and get on with it? Yes.

Bob
