                   De Montfort University, Leicester

Following on from successful conferences held previously in 
Nottingham and Reading, the 3rd UK VR-SIG conference is to be 
hosted by De Montfort University on its Leicester campus.

This one-day conference will include presentations of refereed 
papers, poster sessions and an exhibition of commercial 
products and academic work.

SUBMISSIONS (DEADLINE: 1-APR-96)
Extended abstracts of 500-1000 words are invited on all topics 
relevant to Virtual Reality research, including (but not 
limited to):

  * Human Factors           * Presence/Immersion
  * 3D Interaction          * Virtual World Design
  * Sociological issues     * Distributed VR
  * Applications            * Tele-operation
  * VR and Hypermedia       * 3D/Stereoscopic displays
  * Hardware and Software   * Multimodal interaction
    Architectures

The categories of submission are Full Paper, Short Paper and 
Poster.  Full Papers will form the basis of the conference 
presentations.  Short Papers and Posters are suitable for new 
work which may be controversial or not yet completed.  Both 
Full Papers and Short Papers will appear in the proceedings.

All submissions must be made electronically, either by e-mail 
(preferred) or by sending a 3.5" high density MS-DOS format 
floppy disk via snail-mail.  All submissions must state 
clearly:
    
    - Category of Submission: Full paper, short paper, poster
    - Name, affiliation/organisation and VR-SIG membership 
      number of each author (see below)
    - Postal address, e-mail address, Fax and phone number 
      of contact person for the submission

Acceptable formats for submissions are ASCII text, PostScript 
or Microsoft Word.  E-mail submissions should be sent to 
cph@dmu.ac.uk (Word files should be sent as MIME attachments 
or uuencoded).  Submissions on disk should be sent to:

CONDITIONS OF SUBMISSION
At least one author must be a member of the UK VR-SIG.  Full 
papers are accepted on the condition that at least one author 
will attend the conference to make a presentation.  Short 
papers will appear in the proceedings without presentation.  
Papers submitted should be previously unpublished.

PROCEEDINGS
Conference Proceedings will be produced electronically and 
made available via the World-Wide Web and anonymous FTP.  
Copies will also be available on disk to VR-SIG members with 
no Internet access.

VR-SIG MEMBERSHIP
Application forms to join UK VR-SIG are available from the 
chairman, Robin Hollands (e-mail: R.Hollands@shef.ac.uk).  
Membership is free of charge.

REGISTRATION
Although attendance at the conference is free of charge for UK 
VR-SIG members, the number of delegates is limited to 150.  
Further announcements regarding registration will be made in 
due course.

EXHIBITS/DEMOS
Please send proposals for exhibits and demos (including 
details of space required) to Chris Hand at the above address 
by 30th April.

LEICESTER
Leicester is located in the very centre of England.  London is 
only 70 minutes away by train, while the Midland Main Line 
also extends North to Sheffield and Leeds.   By road, 
Leicester is easily reached via the M1 (Jn20/21) or the M69.
