The London Virtual Reality Group (LVRG)

Below is the agenda for the next meeting. I am pleased to announce
that we have speakers from: Mel Slater's 'Presence' research group at
UCL, Superscape and Virtual Presence.

This message will be posted to several areas on the net. Apologies to
those who receive multiple copies. Ultimately we aim to only post to
the LVRG mailing list.

NB If you are planning to attend the meeting contact Simon
(simon_bore@dial.pipex.com) so that you can be put on the 'Attendees
list'.

Unless you are on this list The City University security staff are not
able to admit you to the meeting.

Directions to the meeting are as follows:

Tube

Angel
Nearest tube to the University is the Angel on the Northern line.
Barbican station is also within walking distance.

>From the Angel, turn left at exit and walk straight down past trafficlight
s and along St. John Street - about 5 minute walk. There is an 

entrance
for the university on St. John Street. This provides access to the
College Building which is where the meeting will be held. Ask at 

reception for
the LVRG meeting in Room A529.

Barbican
>From Barbican, turn left at exit and then proceed north along Aldersgate
street and then Goswell road. Turn off Goswell road onto Sebastian 

street
for Northampton Square where you will find the main university entrance 

-
about 15 minute walk. At the main entrance ask for the LVRG meeting, 

Room A529
in the College building.

Car

There is limited metered parking near the university at Spencer street
and Northampton square. These are 4 hour meters at A32 an hour.

6.50pm  'VR and the Internet: an interface to Cyberspace' by Roger 

Frampton
(Superscape: http://www.superscape.com). Roger will be bringing along a
Supercape system to illustrate his talk and allow members some 'hands 

on'
experience.

7.20pm  'An example of VR and the control of robotic vehicles' by David 

Hendon
(Virtual Presence: http://www.vrweb.com/). Using some of the latest 

technology
(VRS FS5 HMD, Polhemus FASTRAK, 'flying joystick', Intergraph 200MHz 

Pentium Pro
with OpenGL graphics acceleration, Sense8 WorldToolKit and Windows NT) 

David
will be demonstrating how it is possible to control a robotic device 

from within
a VR world/scene. David will also talk about why this particular 

collection of
hard/software was selected.
