Australia Multimedia Day is Australia's first national day of Multimedia creative expression. It's a day to connect, perform, share, network, collaborate and celebrate life live through any local performance to mass medium we can get our hands on... This means the stage, net, multimedia, TV and radio broadcast, cable, satellite, etc. WHO's IT FOR: It's for anyone from individual to the the industry PURPOSE: Expressing Australian life through as many mediums simutaneously over a local to global network of friends and collegues. WHEN IS IT? Saturday, 23 November 1996 for 24 hours WHAT IS QUEENSLAND DOING? Currently, here's what Queensland Multimedia Arts Centre, AusMusic and Brisbane Independent Filmmakers is doing for this day: Netcast live! from Netcast to Broadcast: Netcasting live images, CUseeMe, IRC and a full website during: AUSMUSIC DAY IN QUEENSLAND Byte the Big One! @ the Roxy 23 November 1996 BTBO is expected to sell out at the Roxy with over 2000 people, 9 bands and 3 stages of Australian Music. There are also 9 workshops during the day covering film, music and multimedia. FROM NETCAST (sponsored by Macromedia & Global InfoLinks, Ipswich City Council) The Concept: During Byte the Big One @ the Roxy, A production team of 20 - 40 people will collect sounds, images, video, creating graphics in a Hybrid network of PC's, Mac and SGI equipment, all connected to the net through ISDN, spinning multimedia on the web live. Users will also get to access live cameras in located in each of the 3 stages in the roxy. Chat rooms will be set up for more interaction. The team will also perform our own music, video and interactive performances. TO BROADCAST - Briz 31 will be broadcasting the event from a netsurfer's perspective - 4ZZZ will be doing interviews and broadcasting some of the streaming audio coming off the net.
