It's not so much in the stereoscopic vs monoscopic thing than to the
real life stereoscopy vs the _simulated_ stereoscopy found in any
stereoscopic visualisation device such as the HMDs. See the small
E-mail interview I gave to someone at this address:

Quite true Sarah. This is yet again related to the fact the the HMDs
can't recreate a real life stereoscopic situation. You can read a lot
about it in my report called "stereoscopy, principles and applications
" also found on our site VResources. In short, it has to do with the
fact that you build a stereoscopic scene from two 2D flat images. If
the 3D objects you are trying to show in the device are too far from
the "virtual image plane" distance, you will get that kind of
blurring.

Like I state in the interview I pointed out above, it may be of real
concern if young kids use HMDs for long period of time (1 hour or more
non stop by example) repeatedly. Their visual system is still growing
so it is possible to imagine that it could change the course of
evolution of their eyes and thus, make them tecnological visually
accuity(accommodation) impared children. There is not much research
and proof that this could happen but it's preferable to consider it
possible than wait and be surprized later.
