     The Computer Graphics Society (CGS) is pleased to announce COMPUTER
   ANIMATION '97 in Geneva. This ninth conference on Computer Animati
on is organized jointly by the University of Geneva, the Swiss Federal
Institute 
of Technology and CGS.

                              Call for Papers

Contributions are solicited describing original research results and
applications experience to the following areas of computer animation:

Motion control                 Animation for scientific visualization
Keyframe techniques            .Animation in engineering
Motion Capture                 .Motion blur and temporal antialiasing
Path planning                    .A.I.-based animation
Mechanics-based animation        .Robotics and animation
Virtual humans and avatars       .Virtual reality
Image rendering in animation     .Autonomous characters and actors
Animation languages and systems  .Sound and speech synchronization
Behavioral animation             .Vision techniques in animation
Artificial Life                  .Special hardware for animation

Four copies of full papers in English are due December 1, 1996. Autho
rs will be notified by January 10, 1997. Camera-ready papers are due
by Febru ary 10, 1997. All accepted papers will appear in a book
published by IEEE Com puter Society Press.

Papers should be around ten pages single spaced including images, fig
ures, tables and references. The paper should include the title of the
paper, authors names, affiliations, postal adresses, e-mail and fax
number.

                     Call for Computer-Generated Films

The Tenth Computer-Generated Film Festival of Geneva will contain a
selection of outstanding computer graphic animation.

Submit your latest work in computer animation by February 28,
1997. Selected films will be shown on public screening. Several awards
including the
 Award of the City of Geneva will be decerned by an international
panel of j udges.  Films should be submitted in video VHS or
preferably UMATIC (PAL or N TSC) or Betacam (PAL only). Please include
film credits and complete descript ion of the work.
