Final Call for Articles on Present, New, and Emerging Display Systems

I am editing a special issue of ACM SIGGRAPH's "Computer Graphics"
publication on Present, New, and Emerging Display Systems. Articles
are still being sought regarding current technologies (film, video,
CRT's, flat-panel displays), emerging technologies (stereoscopic,
immersive, HMD, digital projection), and future technologies. The
issue is for May 1997, and all papers are due on 3 January 1997.
Papers average 3000 words. It is suggested that you call or send a
brief abstract and bio before preparing a full article. We still
require 3-4 articles at this time.

In particular, we are seeking articles in the following areas:

1. State of the art in large format film
2. HDTV - where it's going
3. Flat-panel display update
4. The promise of digital cinema
5. Recent developments in projection-based displays
6. Displays for Virtual Reality

"Computer Graphics" addresses the CG community at large. That means
artists, educators, programmers, tekkies, cybernauts, etc. A highly
technical background cannot be assumed. Avoid undefined acronyms,
highly technical language, etc. This is an article, not a technical
SIGGRAPH paper. On the other hand, you can assume a basic knowledge
of computers and computer graphics (this is SIGGRAPH, after all). So
you don't have to define things like monitor, mass storage, bits and
bytes, texture mapping, etc. Check out the thin issues of CG
(non-proceedings issues) for examples.

Looking forward to receiving your abstract or article ASAP,
