The User Interface Group at the University of Virginia is pleased to
announce that the alpha release of Alice is available for download
free of charge from http://alice.virginia.edu.

Alice is a 3D Interactive Graphics Programming Environment. The goal
of Alice is to make it easy for novice programmers to develop
interesting 3D environments and to explore the new medium of
interactive 3D graphics.

The alpha version of Alice runs under Windows 95.  The recommended
Alice platform is a Pentium processor with 16 MB of RAM, a VGA card
with at least 16 bit color, 20 MB of free disk space, and a sound
card.  

Alice uses Microsoft's Direct3D graphics library and Intel's RSX 3D
sound library.
