IMHO, this is a great package for novices to experiment with basic 3d
graphics. The user interface makes it easy to view source files,
object hierarchies, and rendered images simultaneously in an
interactive, interpreted environment, which is handy for novices and
not-so-newbies alike. Also, Alice can import a few of the well-known
3d graphics formats.

We will be using the package for student projects in the undergraduate
virtual environments course at University of Central Florida
(http://www.dml.cs.ucf.edu/cap4021).

This package is definitely worth a look if you are teaching a
beginning graphics course or know someone who may not be an
experienced programmer and needs a better understanding of graphics
fundamentals.

Check it out and enjoy!
