Powell, as part of an eight-part series on Web tools, draws a consistently unflattering portrait of Web VR including a special denunciation of VRML. In one respect at least Powell is on the target: the application of VR technologies online has been uninspired compared with the aspirations of the VR and VRML developers and promoters. Otherwise, I think Powell under- estimates the technology and its inherent capabilities. How strange that with so much power at hand we can do so little to positively affect others' experience.
