HI, After just watching the movie Johnny Mnemonic (sp?) and its
protrayal of the Internet of the future as being another world that
you could actually submerge your self into throught HMD and gloves
etc. It got me thinking if it was actually possible for this to
happen and wondered what you knowlegeable ppl had to say about it. I
mean the banwidth alone for something that graphically intensive and
for it to be in real time would have to be enormous, no? I guess the
same is true for when at the end of the Lawnmower Man he up/downloads
himself I wonder how much data a human is? memorys and knowlege and
all.

But what a rush eh? to be able to virtually be in the same room with
someone on the other side of the world and maybe even virtually touch
them!! You could have friends in the net who are just as tangable as
someone you live next door to.

Basically my main question is - Is the immersible 'world' like network
actually possible or is the technology we have at the moment just not
even remotly capable of this kind of interaction (ie will it never get
that 'good' until we find some way of making super optic fibre that
wavelength dosen't diminsih over distance and no loss of signal)

Something like that anyway. Interested to here what you have to say.
