I've written an extended abstract, entitled "Do visual background
manipulations reduce simulator sickness?", for the International Workshop on
Motion Sickness (http://www.ion.bpmf.ac.uk/~dizzymrc/motsick.html).

The abstract is available from
http://www.hitl.washington.edu/publications/r-97-12/

It suggests a way of thinking about motion sickness, presence and various
visual illusions, and a predicted technique for reducing simulator sickness,
which may be of interest to some.
