Company has recently developed software algorithms for automatically converting real-world imagery to 3D graphics models, and seeks a technical team leader capable of defining and developing resulting products. *Spun-out mid-1997 from a profitable private company founded mid-1994. *Corporation is currently funded with combination of private capital and DoD R&D contracts, with additional contracts pending. *Business plan supporting rapid growth leading to IPO with first round venture capital in process. *Company is located in downtown San Jose, California. Position *Title: "Director of Research, Development, and Engineering" *The overall goal for this position is to work as a key member of the management team to establish a product architecture and development plan, to direct all technical resources available internally and externally to meet the plan, and to resolve technical and business related changes to the plan. *Report to President & CEO Responsibilities *Evaluate state-of-the-art in image understanding and determine optimu= m technical approaches to meet commercial product goals. *Establish strong object-oriented product development process, alpha/beta test process, and product/process documentation. *Develop product architecture, object classes, and detailed product designs for systems which convert real-world imagery to 3D graphics models. *Establish and lead development team to implement software products an= d hardware/software acquisition platforms. *Complete R&D contract for US Marines and other pending/future technology development projects. *Participate in inbound and outbound technology licensing negotiations. *Coordinate technical aspects of patent process. *Establish & lead technical support department as products achieve market introduction. Professional Qualifications *5-10 years technical experience. *Demonstrated world-class expertise in image understanding, 3D scene reconstruction, 3D computer vision, 3D graphics, or closely related field. *3 years experience as manager of software development team, demonstrating ability to lead an advanced software product from concept to market. *Participated in at least one high-tech start-up as team leader. Personal Qualifications *Innovative thinker with record of invention or novel research. *Self-motivated, self-starter. *Cool under pressure. *Team-oriented. *Meets aggressive goals. *Ability to plan projects and manage technical staff, subcontractors, and partners to meet plan. *Enjoys start-up work environment. Education *Ph.D. in computer science or electrical engineering, with emphasis on algorithms for image understanding, image processing, computer vision, video processing, real-time systems, computer graphics. *Will consider Masters Degree if candidate clearly a technical expert who will be respected by Ph.D. subordinates.
