Virtual Research to Reintroduce
i-Glasses and ProTec to VR Markets

-- Low end VR is back --

Los Angeles, CA, August 5, 1997 - - Virtual Research, the
world's leading manufacturer of mid-priced, professional Head Mounted
Displays (HMDs), today announced plans to reintroduce the Virtual i-O
i-glasses and ProTec product lines to the virtual reality marketplace.
Virtual Research will target a low price professional head mount
display market with the i-glasses VTV and VPC. ProTec will be offered
as a midrange HMD.

Introduced in 1995, the i-glasses quickly emerged as a market leader
for consumer video and PC gaming applications. User's were impressed
by the weight and comfort, the easy installation and the breakthrough
pricing of the i-glasses. In 1996, the ProTec catapulted Virtual i-O
into the realm of high performance VR systems. With higher resolution
and a larger field of view than the i-glasses, ProTec suited many
research applications with see-thru requirements. Despite these
product advances, Virtual i-O never achieved profitability and finally
closed its doors in April of 1997.

As a competitor and industry leader, Virtual Research has followed
these events closely and has taken a role in subsequent discussions.

Although details have not been finalized, Menlo Park based Ilixco,
Inc. now plans to manufacture the Virtual i-O product line. While
Ilixco intends to focus its sales efforts on select markets
opportunities, Virtual Research will use it's worldwide distribution
network to broadly promote the Virtual i-O products for VR.

"These products will add a new dimension to our existing product line
that currently serves the mid and higher end market. We are often
approached by customers with very limited budgets. Now we can provide
a solution to just about everyone," said Bruce Bassett, President of
Virtual Research Systems, Inc.

Jeff Fergason, President of Ilixco adds, "Virtual Research is an
obvious choice for the virtual reality sales channel. They are
clearly the leader in professional head mount displays and have
cultivated an extensive reseller network."

While pricing and other details have yet to be finalized, it is
expected that initial shipments will occur in September. In the
meantime Virtual Research will supply VPC's from a small existing
inventory. Please contact Virtual Research for the latest
information.

In addition, Virtual Research can now expand its offering of
customized solutions. Many simulation and training applications call
for specialized display systems rather than off the shelf products.
Virtual Research has developed core strengths in providing such
solutions and will make use of these lower priced components in future
projects.

Virtual Research Systems has pioneered many advances in both LCD and
CRT based head mounted displays. Today, Virtual Research products are
in daily use in research and industrial applications around the world.
Products may be purchased directly from Virtual Research and from a
worldwide network of authorized distributors. Watch for even better
things in the future as Virtual Research continues to provide advanced
products and unparalleled service.
