Couple of things may be of use.

1. Historic - one of the first VR in general education projects in the
UK was undertaken by the late Michael Clark, when in the position of
Head master at West Denton High School, in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Mike
introduced the use of VR for language learning and art and design
teaching using a series of Superscape based educational worlds. Details
of the West Denton developments can be found in Meckler MEdia's 1992
Virtual Reality Conference hosted in London.

2. The UK's Advisory Group on Computer Graphics (ACOG) ran a workshop
examining the role of VR In higher education in December 1995 - I
believe the findings are now on the website 0 but I'm not sure of the
web address - try doing a search on Anne Mummford at Loughborough. Anne
was one of the co-ordinators responsible for establishing the event and
distributing its findings.

hope this helps.
