From: Toni Emerson Subject: ONLINE: Virtual Interface Technology Bibliography database Date: Mon, 24 Mar 1997 09:52:38 -0700 The Virtual Interface Technology Bibliography (VITB) is now available as a searchable database online at: http://www.hitl.washington.edu/projects/knowledge_base/meta/ This is a beta test of the database. The VITB constantly being updated and revised, we are now encorporating all the other guides that I have written into the bibliography, checking URLs and indexing. The Bibliography Project consists of myself, Debra Revere and Linda Mayhugh. I am the primary contact. The VITB began in 1993, when I started at the Human Interface Technology Lab. It is now an Endnote database (Endnote is a bibliographic database, for more information see their WWWW site at: http://www.niles.com), originally it was in Microsoft Word. Right now, the database contains around 2600 citations. This doesn't include the new Virtual Reality Update which I'm busy compiling. I'll post a notice again when I've uploaded the new bibliography which will be in about 2 weeks. There are also RTF and PDF files available of the document. However, the files are quite large. Originally, I separated the scholarly literature from the magazines, in the database and the new VITB, I do not make that distintion. However, I do believe that the distinction is noteworthy and am working on a way of noting that in our database. Comments and additions are always welcome. I am also working on a massive upgrade to my On the Net document. There is now a commercial directory with vendors listed alphabetically. The "twist" is that they are indexed by keyword.
