VR PIONEERS DAY'97

Details are still being resolved, but a date has been selected for VR
PIONEERS DAY, celebrating original *and new* beginnings for our
industry.

The event will take place on August 29, three weeks after SIGGRAPH and
just before Labor Day Weekend holiday in the U.S.  Panel discussions
and formal activities will take place at SRI International, in Menlo
Park, California.  A Celebration Picnic will then take place at
Silicon Graphics Inc. (SGI), in Mountain View, California (just down
Highway 101).  We are right now working out a list of invited
participants, demos, and other logistics.  Details to follow!

Your hosts are SRI and SGI, and the human organizers are, for SRI, Bob
Jacobson and Terri Middleton (who organized the original SRI
Conference on Virtual Reality); and Linda Jacobson for SGI.

Send your comments, suggestions, and loot -- no, just kidding! -- to
me at the address below.  I'll do my best to respond, but guarantee no
replies to simple requests for information.  Please be patient.  We're
doing this as a labor of love.
