Attached you find the preliminary program of the 15th edition of the
COMPUTER GRAPHICS INTERNATIONAL '97 CONFERENCE, 23-27 June 1997 in
Belgium.

Please pass this information to colleagues that might be interested in
the
areas of virtual reality, multimedia, computer graphics and the
internet.

This conference is constituted of several parts:
- the preconference tutorials (23-24 June)
- an industrial seminar about JAVA en ActiveX (24 June)
- the conference (25-27 June) consisting of lectures of invited speakers
and papers
- an exhibition (25-26 June)
A social program is provided with e.g. a film about computer animation
on
Tuesday evening and a conference reception and dinner on Wednesday.
An accompanying program is foreseen during the conference.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Prof. H. Fuchs

Henry Fuchs is Federico Gil Professor of Computer Science and Adjunct
Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill. He is predominantly involved in the field of virtual
reality
in medicine through his work on the Medical Imaging Program Project and
his
research in head-mounted displays.  Prof. Fuchs is one of the inventors
of
the Pixel-Planes high-performance graphics engine, currently the world's
fastest graphics computer, and is a principal investigator for the work
on
its successor, PixelFlow.

INVITED SPEAKERS

Prof. B. Blumberg

Bruce Blumberg is the Asahi Broadcasting Corporation Career Development
Assistant Professor of Media Arts and Sciences at the MIT Media Lab
where
he is heading up a new group focused on the problem of building
"Synthetic
Characters".


Prof. T.L. Kunii

Tosiyasu L. Kunii is currently President and Professor at the University
of
Aizu.  His research interests include computer graphics, database
systems
and software engineering.

Mr. C. Machover

Carl Machover is president of Machover Associates Corp(MAC) a
consultancy and literary agency he founded in 1976 and which provides
a broad range of management, engineering, marketing and financial
services world-wide to computer graphics users, suppliers and
investors. Application areas served include CAD, CAM, CAE, CIM,
business, slidemaking, art, animation, graphic arts, multimedia,
virtual reality, process control, technical documentation, engineering
and scientific visualization.

Prof. N. Magnenat-Thalmann

Nadia Magnenat-Thalmann is Full Professor of Computer Science at the
University of Geneva, Switzerland and Adjunct Professor at HEC Montreal,
Canada.
