Following on from successful conferences held in
Nottingham, Reading and Leicester, the 4th VR-SIG
conference is to be hosted by Brunel University at its
Runnymead Campus.

This one-day conference will include presentations of
refereed papers, posters sessions and exhibitions. High quality
papers are sought describing recent and novel research in the
area of Virtual Reality and related topics. The conference is
primarily concerned with current research in the UK,
however high quality papers from international research
groups will be considered.

SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE 1/7/97 


TOPICS
------

Extended abstracts of 500-1000 words are invited on all
topics relevant to Virtual Reality research. 

Conference Topics Include (but are not limited to):

    Human Factors
    3D Interaction
    Sociological Issues
    Applications
    VR and Hypermedia
    Hardware and Software
    Architectures
    Presence/Immersion
    Virtual World Design
    Distributed VR
    Tele-operation
    3D/Stereoscopic Displays
    Multimodal Interaction
    VRML


All submissions must be made electronically, either by
e-mail (preferred) or by sending a 3.5" high density
MS-DOS format floppy disk via snail-mail. 

Acceptable formats for submissions are ASCII text,
PostScript or preferably Microsoft Word. E-mail
submissions should be sent to richard.bowden@brunel.ac.uk
(Word files should be sent as MIME attachments or
uuencoded). A MS-Word template file is available to format
your submission. Submissions on disk should be sent to:

Conditions of Submission
------------------------

At least one author must be a member of the UK VR-SIG.
Full papers are accepted on the condition that at least one
author will attend the conference to make a presentation.
Poster presentations will appear in the proceedings. Papers
submitted should be previously unpublished. 


Proceedings
-----------

Conference Proceedings are refereed and will be allocated an
ISBN. Printed proceedings will be supplied free of charge
providing company sponsorship can be secured. The
proceedings will be produced electronically and made
available via the World-Wide Web and anonymous FTP.
Copies will also be available on disk to VR-SIG members
with no Internet access. 


VRSIG Membership
----------------

Application forms to join UK VR-SIG are available from the
chairman, Robin Hollands (e-mail: R.Hollands@shef.ac.uk).
Membership is free of charge. 


Registration
------------

Although attendance at the conference is free of charge for
UK VR-SIG members, the number of delegates is limited to
120. Further announcements regarding registration will be
made in due course. In the absence of company sponsorship a
small fee (5 Pounds) may be charged to help cover
administrative costs.


Exhibits/Demos
--------------

Please send proposals for exhibits and demos (including
details of space required) to Richard Bowden at the above
address by 26th September 1997. 


Brunel
------

Brunel University is located on four campuses: at Uxbridge,
Osterley, Twickenham and Runnymede. All are within easy
reach of London, Heathrow Airport and the national
motorway system. The conference will be held in the Chapel
Suite at the RunnyMede Campus. Information on getting to
Brunel can be found here.
