Hi,

I have built a HMD. Now, I need to do the head tracking. I would be
quite satisfied to just have 2 DOF (yaw & pitch). The contraints I am
working towards are:

- Must not require external sensors
- Must send data via standard serial
- Must be small enough to fit in headset of course
- Must be under US$200

I don't mind if it involves building a circuit, or anything like that.
Just need some pointers. I haven't been into VR for a few years, did
anything ever come of piezo-electric gyroscopes or magnetic compassess
for head tracking?

I have the homebrew VR book, and I'm planning on building the magnetic
compass (LOHETS) project. Has anyone else done this, if so, any ideas
to share, especially from anyone that used an A-D chip and a PIC to
control the serial link back to the computer.

Any help is greatly appreciated, as I want to use my HMD with real
tracking now!

Thanks,
Peter
