Dear Sir or Madam,

I am an MSc. student at the London School of Economics and I am
interested in the applications of virtual reality and virtual
environments to business and financial institutions. I would like to
approach the field from a critical and sociological point of view
rather than a technical one.  My major questions are:

Is VR/VE really as effective as it seems or is it just immagination and media?
Why we should use VR/VE instead of other techniques of simulation?
Who is making money out of VR/VE?
Why are they making money? 

Is it because they are actually offering something substantial and
useful or are they just speculating?

Who is interested in actually implementing VR/VE in their company
today or in the near future?Why?

What are the main issues involved in socilogical and technical
terms?i.e. Identity, Security

.......and many other questions, I would like to find an answer to.
