The ideal candidate has a bachelors or masters degree, an understanding of solid-body dynamics and formal computer science training. The candidate is imaginative, bright, self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and is a product-oriented team player. S/he possesses extensive C/C++ programming training and/or experience, produces very clean and professional code, and is detail-oriented. Silicon Graphics Workstation graphics programming experience is desirable, ideally including GL/OpenGL, Performer and X/Motif. Win95, WinNT and VRML programming experience is a strong plus. Familiarity with coordinate transformations and collision-detections algorithms will be helpful. In addition to simulating manipulation of computer-generated virtual objects, a broad range of software responsibilities and learning opportunities might include: computer modeling of static and dynamic physical systems; enhancing human-computer interfaces for our existing software products; developing interfaces for exotic virtual reality peripheral devices, such as head-mounted displays and 6D spatial trackers; and working with third-party software developers to integrate the haptics software library.
