Themekit Release New version of the MindRender Virtual Reality
Explorer Kit

London, UK (8th September 1997) - Themekit, developers of affordable
real time 3D modelling software for the PC platform have again
strengthened their position in the 3D modelling market by introducing
many new professional features to the latest version of the MindRender
Virtual Reality Explorer Kit (VREK). The MindRender Virtual Reality
Explorer Kit is a real time 3D modelling and interactive scene
designing package that has received acclaim in the education sector
for bringing highly functional real time 3D software within easy reach
of tight education sector budgets.

Released in May, 1997, the MindRender Virtual Reality Explorer Kit has
established Themekits' commitment to the VR and real time 3D graphics
industry which has been starved of a truly affordable, complete and
professional package. The latest release, version 1.3, is a milestone
for Themekit as it has consolidated all the functions originally
specified internally in addition to a great many resulting from
feedback from users of the VREK.

MindFormer, the modelling package, can stand its ground among the best
3D modelling packages available today in terms of raw functionality.
Among the key features of MindFormer are the high level of control
offered over every aspect of models, from surfaces to vertices. The
exceptional texture mapping functions allow control over static or
animated textures using UV values enabling users to manipulate a
texture to align to any vertex and fit any size or shape polygon. The
latest version of the VREK sees additions to MindFormer with Boolean
surface operation being added, allowing subtraction, intersection and
union of surfaces and by using polygon reduction techniques the number
of polygons in the models remains low. In addition to this Themekit
have also included face-mapping and sphere mapping functions, an
extension of our already unique texture mapping tools. This function
allows you to texture thousands of faces in minutes or map a texture
to a sphere without losing the textures' properties.

MindSetter, the scene designer, has seen the most changes with many
new interactive elements being added. Additional actions now include
scene jumping, interpolation of objects and also captions. These
actions can be caused by any of the new triggers in MindSetter, such
as selection, time, objects collision or range test, i.e. when two
entities come within a specified distance of each other. MindSetter
also has a more user friendly interface, improved slightly over
version 1.2.

As is the natural course at Themekit the upgrade is available free of
charge to existing users from the Themekit Web site.

The release of version 1.3 has consolidated development of the VREK as
a DOS product and Themekit are now heavily committed to the
development of the Windows '95 product.
