Immersive Systems, a pioneer in the field of distributed virtual reality, is looking for senior 3D programmers and artists to work on a variety of on-line VR venues. Development work will be done using Meme(tm), Immersive's innovative VR software package. Virtual worlds produced using Meme(tm) deliver performance and feature malleability in real time that is simply not available with other software packages. Come work with Immersive Systems and watch your ideas take shape. Candidates for the position of 3D artist have a minimum of five years experience creating artwork for software-based graphical products, with a recent emphasis on 3D content for real-time rendering. Proven abilities to work independently, make accurate estimates, and interface directly with an engineer are required. It is expected that the candidate has his or her own tools and can produce .3DS or .COB files. Familiarity with the RenderWare(tm) .RWX format is a plus. Candidates for the position of software engineer have a minimum of five years experience in industry, with an emphasis on 3D graphics and/or networking, and some experience with low-level coding and performance issues. Previous experience with Forth, and particularly multi-threaded Forth, is highly desired. The candidate will have a demonstrable ability to analyze the needs of the client and implement the virtual world accordingly, as well as good interpersonal skills for working directly with the artist and other members of staff. The successful candidate for engineer will be capable of producing well-documented modifiable source code on a sustained basis. Immersive Systems is located in San Francisco.
