Subject: | [ARFORUM] HMD choose | ||
Hi: I am considering buy a HMD for AR. Now I found there are total four equivalent product on market: 1 cyberEye CE-500 2 Cy-Visor 3 i-glass SVGA 4 Eye-Trek FMD 700 5 Tekgear All of them have high resolution. But there are still some difference on price and performance. Since I never bought HMD. So I wish someone can give me some advice about that . best wishes calvin __________________________________________________ Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help? Hello Calvin, You actually can do AR with an opaque display but it will be video see-through AR by using a camera to capture the real world. I have not tried most of the display you mention but I do know that the previous version of the i-glasses was only 640x480 which is poor. Moreover, the pixels are "time interlaced" (I dont think I have the good term here), which basically means that when you move your head, you will see the RGB components separated for each pixels instead of seing one composite color per pixel. You may want to pay attention to that. hi,Mark : First thanks for your advice about HMD. But I really do not think I can choose one kind since almost you deny eevry kind of HMD I had metioned. since I will almost do the video-see through AR system. maybe I can minimize the range. How do you think about it ? best wishes calvin __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email alerts & NEW webcam video instant messaging with Yahoo! How do you think about it ? Forgive me if I've not read your mail properly. As far as I know if you're going to do AR in see through mode you are limited to either getting hold of a second hand (or end of range) glasstron or the I-glasses at the 'low' cost end. But this may not be a bad thing, there are of course all sorts of issues to do with HMD's, I've done immersive work with a virtual research V6 which by many standards has a low resolution image, but for the stuff I want to do its good because of its field of view, it all depends on your priorities and in the end its all down to content rather than kit. If you've alot of money take a look at Kaiser's range <http://www.keo.com/>. all the best, Mark ==^================================================================ EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?a84Ao5.a9zIQj Or send an email To: arforum-unsubscribe@t .........
