Subject: | Re: [ARFORUM] How to determine the PCI Version | ||
Yohan, as far as I know, most motherboards, made after 1998, support the PCI bus 2.1 specification. For Windows 98, here is the procedure of how to find out if the system supports PCI 2.1 (info from the Iomega web site http://www.iomega.com/support/documents/80006.html ) in my computer / properties / device manager / system devices / pci-bus: if you see a tab "IRQ steering", then it is PCI 2.1 compliant. Under Win2k, I don't know how to determine this... on my Win2k PC there is no IRQ steering tab. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Reinhold Behringer, Senior Scientist - Human Computer Interface Rockwell Scientific 1049 Camino Dos Rios phone: (805) 373-4435 Thousand Oaks, CA 91360 fax: (805) 373-4862 rbehringer@r ....... http://hci.rwsc.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- yohan baillot <baillot@a ...............> 01/07/2002 04:34 PM Please respond to arforum To: Wearable List2 <wear-hard@h ........> ARtoolkit Mailing List <artoolkit@h ..................> ARForum Mailing List <arforum@t .........> cc: Subject: [ARFORUM] How to determine the PCI Version Dear all, I would like to buy a FireWire PCI host card to start to use FireWire cameras with system which is not shipped with firewire ports. It is my understanding that the FireWire PCI card will work only on system with PCI version 2.1 and above. 1) can you confirm this restriction 2) how can I determine the PCI version -> I tried System Analyzer but it does not determine PCI version with Win2k thanks Yohan _______________________________________________________________________ Yohan BAILLOT Virtual Reality Laboratory, Advanced Information Technology (Code 5580), Naval Research Laboratory, 4555 Overlook Avenue SW, Washington, DC 20375-5337 Email : baillot@a ............... A year ago I went out and bought a very cheap no name firewire card (there are lots to chose from) and plugged it into a pretty old P2-333 machine and it worked no problems. Windows 98 and XP detected it just fine, so I don't think there should be any problems with PCI revisions unless the card is a very special and expensive one with some kind of bizarre features or drivers. regards, Wayne ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wayne Piekarski - PhD Student / Lecturer Phone: +61-8-8302-3669 Advanced Computing Research Centre Fax: +61-8-8302-3381 University of South Australia Mobile: 0407-395-889 Internet: wayne@c ..............
