SONY DFW VL500 firewire cameras?

Hi all,

has anyone tried to use the SONY DFW VL500 firewire cameras with 
ARToolkit? I am considering getting one because it has a zoom lens etc. 
I am told people at CMU have made some linux drivers and utilities for 
this camera but I still don't know so much about it.

any clues anyone?
