USB2 is great it is even faster than FireWire so it is not bad. The question is does ARToolkit support it? Mark? I don't think the AR Toolkit has to specifically support it; since they are using DirectShow now, if you have a USB2 camera with a driver, you should be good to go. Yes - ARToolKit will work with any USB2 camera that has DirectShow drivers. The Orange Micro iBot2 camera for example.. We've used these without any trouble. I saw some ARToolkit stuff on tablet type pcs at siggraph last year. Akira Onozawa, Hidenori Sato & Hisao Nojima had a camera fitted to a slate-style computer screen that acted like a magic window to hold up an look through to see the augmented view. It looks like some ofthe neew tablet pcs out there would be great for this kind of thing. I was just looking at the Compaq TC1000, a 1Ghz transmeta Crusoe-based thing with built in wireless and a geforce2go graphics chip. It has USB2 (no firewire though). anyone else been looking at tablet PCs lately? rod. |
