Hey, has anyone seen the PT Grey "Compass3D" SDK? It looks awfully familiar. http://www.ptgrey.com/products/compass3d/index.html It looks like a very primitive version of ARToolkit. -- Dan Novy Technical Supervisor Flash Film Works |

there is alot being done in this area, i dont even follow this field and i can think of 2 efforts ive seen in the last year that are similar a guy who used to work here at ncsa was developing a system that would assign "points" to angles (features) on a marker and use those assigned points to do recognition and camera orientation and when i was in amsterdam for igrid 2002, i saw a system at SARA that used a barcode-like scheme, where the variability of multiple and bewteen multiple lines determined the marker... +john Dan Novy spoke: > > Hey, has anyone seen the PT Grey "Compass3D" SDK? Calling it a primitive version of the ARToolkit is really missing the mark: - it works with very custom cameras (both the Digiclops and the Bumblebee are multi-camera heads) - it tracks collections of circles, rather than just fixed squares, and provides _accurate_ pose information, something the AR Toolkit does not do (the accurate pose info, I mean). The ARToolkit is a wonderful thing; it brings vision-based tracking to a wide audience. But, there was a lot of work going on before it came into being, there is still a lot, and there will be a lot for a while.
