Dear Thomas, well, this is very useful if it actually handle all of these, that would solve many problems on this list. When do you need to do software de-interlace? Is that when using a NTSC input? thanks Yohan At 10:25 PM 2/21/2003 +0100, Thomas Pintaric wrote: >Hello everybody, > >As some of you may already know, I've put together a custom ARToolKit >distribution (based on v2.65) that offers more flexible input-device >abstraction under Microsoft Windows/DirectShow than v2.52 (official) and >the AMIRE-version (2.65) by Jürgen Zauner/FH Hagenberg. > >Key features: (in addition to ARToolKit's standard functionality) > * Input device abstraction through DirectShow: > * Compressed IEEE-1394 DV formats, supported by a wide range of > consumer camcorders. > * Any camera/frame grabber with a device driver conforming to the > WDM specification. > * Asynchronous AVI file reader, supporting arbitrary video codecs. > * Device/format selection through: WDM device name, frame size/rate, > unique 64-bit IEEE-1394 identifier. > * Automated color-space conversion (e.g. YUV to RGB) and decompression > (e.g. 25MBit DVSD to RGB). > * Optional software-deinterlacing, using MMX/SSE optimized code. > > >The project is located at: http://www.ims.tuwien.ac.at/~thomas/artoolkit.php > >Hope this will be useful for some of you. >Naturally, any comments and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated. > >Regards, >--Thomas > >_________________________________________ > >Thomas Pintaric >Interactive Media Systems Group >Vienna University of Technology > >Phone: +43-(0)-699-121-98166 (mobile) > +43-(1)-558-01-18836 (office) >Fax: +43-(1)-558-01-18898 >E-mail: thomas@i ............... >Contact: http://www.ims.tuwien.ac.at/staff_detail.php?ims_id=thomas >Web: http://www.ims.tuwien.ac.at/~thomas > >------------------------------------------------------------------------ >Do not send unsolicited correspondence. Subject: | ARToolKit/DS distribution for Win32/DirectShow | ||
Hello everybody, As some of you may already know, I've put together a custom ARToolKit distribution (based on v2.65) that offers more flexible input-device abstraction under Microsoft Windows/DirectShow than v2.52 (official) and the AMIRE-version (2.65) by Jürgen Zauner/FH Hagenberg. Key features: (in addition to ARToolKit's standard functionality) * Input device abstraction through DirectShow: * Compressed IEEE-1394 DV formats, supported by a wide range of consumer camcorders. * Any camera/frame grabber with a device driver conforming to the WDM specification. * Asynchronous AVI file reader, supporting arbitrary video codecs. * Device/format selection through: WDM device name, frame size/rate, unique 64-bit IEEE-1394 identifier. * Automated color-space conversion (e.g. YUV to RGB) and decompression (e.g. 25MBit DVSD to RGB). * Optional software-deinterlacing, using MMX/SSE optimized code. The project is located at: http://www.ims.tuwien.ac.at/~thomas/artoolkit.php Hope this will be useful for some of you. Naturally, any comments and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Hi Yohan, Some form of deinterlacing is usually required when you're applying any image-processing algorithm to a non-progressive video signal on a per-frame (as opposed to per-field) basis. Here's a good overview of the interlacing, if you're interested: http://www.lukesvideo.com/interlacing.html While interlacing surely is a remnant of the analog days, it's still widely used, even in brand-new consumer miniDV camcorders, regardless of their video standard (PAL/NTSC/SECAM).
