camera not supported

Hi all,
Im trying the linux version of artoolkit (2.68.1) and get the error msg
when I start the simpleTest program:

"this device can not be supported by libARvideo.
(vm.frames < 2)"

What does it mean?
My Webcam (Quickcam Express) runs with motv/xawtv, but why not with
the artoolkit?
