Hello Alam, as far as I know, you need Visual Studio 2003. Not the .net Version. But since it is c++ code, you shouldn't be forced to use a specific IDE. But Visual Studio 2003 seems to be the IDE which is mostly used and there are some installation-guides for this IDE. Visual Studio 6 isn't supported anymore, because the newest DirectX does not support it anymore. Thats the only reason, as far as I know. I once tried to get the toolkit running under devcpp, but gave up after 2 days of frustration. If somebody else was able to achieve this, I would be glad to get a note. greetings Bernd Salewski Alam, Mohammed wrote: > > > Do I need visual studio.NET for the ARtoolkit-2.70? > > > > Thanks > > Alam > > > |

(visual studio 2005 has no more .NET in the name, atleast not yet). still since this is about pure, unmanaged c++ one does not need to care about .NET. > Visual Studio 6 isn't supported anymore, because the newest DirectX > does not support it anymore. Thats the only reason, as far as I know. you can use the latest directx with visual studio 6 but there are problems with some of the libraries. especially strmiids.lib from dx9.0c feb 2005 on does not link anymore with vc6 (this problem only arises when linking a debug version of your code). you'll have to stick with an older version of that lib. besides that there are no "serious" problems. ofcourse if you don't have any severe reasons to stick with VC6 i'd suggest to use VS.NET (any version). bye, Daniel --------------enig3347557D7EBB32742A4337D4 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.5 (MingW32) iD8DBQFCqpcuQVW9sHd65aQRAiLGAJ9NjpQVkw5QYz5fSwxo1XJa6AGeBACeLRtr jMzhQQIdTn0aAHKUwZPNGYs= =xjlo -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------enig3347557D7EBB32742A4337D4-- |
