video panel configuration not working for v4l

hi,

i downloaded artoolkit 2.70.1 ./Configure & make & bin/simpleTest.
reading the new doc (thanks to philip and the team) i found something on
configurating your /dev/video0 with a panel for linux (choosing size,
format). but it doesn't open when i launch simpleTest?
